Custom Decks, Porches, Pergolas & More
Ypsilanti homes vary widely—from historic neighborhoods near Depot Town and Normal Park to newer subdivisions and properties with larger outdoor spaces. Outdoor projects need to fit not just the home, but also how the space is used day to day.
We regularly work throughout the greater Ypsilanti area, including nearby townships and neighborhoods where grading, setbacks, drainage, and existing site conditions all influence how a deck or porch should be designed and built.
Whether it’s replacing an aging wood deck, adding a covered porch for additional usable space, or planning a low-maintenance composite deck built for long-term durability through Michigan seasons, each project is approached with practical construction in mind.
We have completed deck and outdoor living projects throughout the Ypsilanti area, including new deck construction, rebuilds, covered porches, and upgrades to existing outdoor spaces.
The examples shown here reflect real projects completed in and around Ypsilanti, with each design built around the home, property layout, and how the outdoor space is used.

This Ypsilanti deck project involved building a new elevated outdoor living space using a combination of natural cedar decking and low-maintenance trim and railing materials.
The structure was built with preservative-treated framing supported by 6×6 posts installed on concrete footings below the frost line. Cedar decking was installed across the main deck surface using hidden fasteners to create a cleaner finished appearance while maintaining the natural look and feel of real wood decking.
The project also included a picture frame decking border, white Azek fascia and riser boards, and Trex Transcend white railing with matching Trex post sleeves and post caps. A new 4-foot-wide stair system was constructed to connect the deck to the yard, along with an aluminum graspable handrail for additional safety and code compliance.
To improve long-term durability and reduce maintenance beneath the structure, landscape fabric and decorative stone were installed below the framing area.
The finished project also incorporated a Trex LED lighting package featuring post cap lighting, stair riser lighting, and recessed deck lights integrated throughout the deck to improve nighttime visibility and usability.
This type of custom deck project is common throughout the Ypsilanti area, where homeowners often want the warmth of natural cedar decking combined with lower-maintenance railing, trim, and lighting upgrades for long-term outdoor use.

This Ypsilanti deck project focused on resurfacing an older treated lumber deck with updated composite decking, rebuilt stairs, and modern aluminum railing.
The existing deck framing was evaluated and selectively repaired where needed before the new surface materials were installed. The original stair system was fully removed and rebuilt to improve long-term structural performance, usability, and overall appearance.
The new deck surface was completed using Trex Transcend decking in Tiki Torch, providing a warmer natural-toned appearance with lower long-term maintenance requirements compared to traditional wood decking. Black Trex Signature aluminum railing was installed throughout the deck and stair system, creating a clean contrast against the decking while maintaining open sightlines toward the wooded backyard.
The rebuilt stair system included updated framing, composite stair treads, matching fascia details, and integrated railing designed to improve both durability and day-to-day functionality.
This type of deck resurfacing project is common throughout the Ypsilanti area, where homeowners want to extend the life of an existing structure while upgrading to composite decking and modern railing systems that require less ongoing maintenance than traditional treated lumber decks.
